BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME
HEM's doors opened with the intention to hold space to foster community and a community-oriented way to survive in our capitalistic and consuming society. Our slogan quickly became "we built it for you" because once we got the keys the community came together for everything. The paint on the walls, the furniture, the events on the calendar, the merchandise being sold and the art hung on the walls.
This space has been an ever-evolving and growing community safe space for everyone to come and feel heard and valid. Come to your HEM away from home!

Let's Talk Breast Health
A series of interviews with women who suffered illness from their implants.
I developed symptoms after my mastectomy and reconstruction, all done to fight cancer after it was discovered in 2009. I continued to get sick and suffer despite the cancer being gone. By the time we figured out what was happening to me, both implants had ruptured and leaked into my body. Surgy in 2019 to finally get the chemicals out of my body.
